  December 2009
The holidays have been wonderful and keeping us very busy.  We have been spending time with family and enjoying every minute of it!  Not much to update on. Lindsey is doing great and growing like a weed! I hope you all have had some wonderful holidays and have a Happy New Year!

  October 2009
It has been awhile!  Lindsey's AFP results came in on September 4th. I got the call on our way to Disney World. Her AFP is down to 1.2.  Great news!  We have now graduated up to the 6 month check up!  So exiting and scary!

We went on a last minute trip to Disney.  We had a great time. September 8th was the 3rd Anniversary of the day we were told our baby girl had Cancer. This year we made it a very special day.  I had a surprise for Lindsey.  I told Lindsey that Cinderella asked if we would have dinner with her and celebrate her being cancer free! Lindsey was so excited!! It was beyond words!  It was fantastic!  She loved it!  Dinsey made the day so special!  When we got there Lindsey said "Mama, I didn't know my Princess was real"  She had a great time! I will get some pictures posted soon!!  We then had dinner and met Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine and the 2 wicked step sisters.  When the step sisters came around she said to each one "will you do me a favor?" then they asked what and she said "will you please be nice to Cinderella"  It was too cute. Then when Cinderella came around she said "Will you do me a favor?" Cinderella asked what and Lindsey said "Will you come over to my house and play with me"  It was too sweet. Then a couple of them asked if she was celebrating and she said she was celebrating being cancer free. They thought that was awesome. The manager came over and said a couple of the characters had expressed that they loved what Lindsey was there celebrating and wanted to do something special.  so they asked if we could stick around.  We did..  They brought out a big barbie cake and all 5 of the characters came over to her.  It was wonderful!
We had a great time at Disney!  Lindsey can't wait to go back! It was still pretty warm but we managed to enjoy ourselves.

  May 30, 2009 Happy Birthday!
4 Years ago today we welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family!  Thank you God for 4 amazing years with her, and here is to a million more!  We had a WONDERFUL day celebrating Princess Lindsey's 4th Birthday.  We stopped to pick up Casey's girlfriend on the way to Lindsey's Party. As she gets in the car Lindsey said "I didn't know you had a duck." Oh my! That made me laugh so hard. There was a duck walking across the lawn and I guess Lindsey's just assumed it was their duck.  Kids are just too darn funny. That kept me laughing all day!  Then we were off to a fantastic Princess party at the Groovy Pad.  Lindsey and her friends got their hair done, their nails and their make-up.  (The boys got tatoo's and got their hair sprayed with different colors.) Then they got to play in the Princess Castle and the Enchanted forest. They were able to dress up like Dragons, and Pirates and Princes and Princesses.  Everyone had a wonderful time.  You have to check out Lindsey's Princess cake that my friend Renee' made for her. It was just absolutely beautiful. I will post pictures on the photos page.  I almost didn't want to eat it, it was that pretty, but I am glad I did eat it because it was absolutely delicious! Thank you so much Renee'.  Then we went to Chick Fila for dinner.  They were having a birthday party there for some kids, and Lindsey got to join in.  Then it was off to the movies. We went to see the movie "Up".  There were a couple parts that scared Lindsey, but for the most part she liked it.  It was a little sad if you ask me.  After that we headed home to open the rest of Lindsey's presents.  She got a new dollhouse and she just absolutely loves it.  She said it was what she always wanted and asked how we knew it was her Birthday.  I can not believe my baby girl is 4 years old. She told us that she doesn't want to be 4 she just wants to stay 3.  Me too baby girl!  She is growing too fast. Where does the time go.  Thank you to all that helped celebrate our Little Girl's Birthday and for all that have sent Birthday Wishes her way!  Here is to another wonderful year!  God Bless you all!  (Check out the pictures)

  May 15, 2009
Lindsey made her debut on the radio today.  Star 102.1 was doing a radiothon for East Tennessee Children's Hospital.  She sang Itsy bitsy spider and ended with You are my sunshine.  It was so darn cute!  She even said on the radio that they took out her cancer and made her a princess.  We are just waiting for all the recruiters to start calling her now!! Kim from Marc & Kim and Frank in the morning said she had kept it together for the entire radio thon until Lindsey got up there and started singing, she was in tears, as were quite a few other people.  I am trying to get a copy of the segment.  She is such a sweetie!

AFP Update
Well I see that time got away from me again!  What a busy couple months we have had. I am going to have to get some new pictures posted soon.  We have all been doing great!  Lindsey just had her 4 month check up on May 5th, 2009.  We received the results on on May 8th.  She had a chest x-ray, and ultra sound and an AFP test.  They all came back just fine.  Her AFP is 1.9 which is just awesome (Under 10 is normal).
So what have we been up to?  Well enjoying life as much as we can!  We had a wonderful celebration for Lindsey's Remission Birthday on Valentines Day.  We celebrated at Chuck E Cheese and Lindsey had a ball.  We then served dinner at the Ronald McDonald house that night in Lindsey's honor.  We also attended the Dance Marathon at the University of Tennessee.  Lindsey had so much fun.  Once again she got Smoky (UT Mascot) to jump in the bounce house with her. He also played basketball, tic tac toe, and even danced with little Miss Lindsey.  She would hardly let him out of her sight.  Then it came time for the talent show.  I forgot about it.  When I was asked what Lindsey was going to do for the talent show I said I didn't know. They asked if maybe she would want to dance with Smoky, and I said that sounded great. So Lindsey and I walked towards the stage, and they went to get Smoky.  Well we were up at the stage and Lindsey just walked up on stage and grabed the microphone like she knew what she was doing.  Then she sang "You are my Sunshine". Oh my gosh. I was in shock and didn't even have the camera ready.  It was absolutly beautiful and pretty much brough tears to my eyes.  When she finished everyone was screaming! It was awesome!! They loved her.  (America's youngest American Idol?).  I can't really think of what else we did in February.  In March we had a very fun and eventful Spring Break.  We visited some of the local museums, a petting zoo and went hiking in the Smoky Mountanis.  I will find some pictures to post.  April was a fun month as well.  Lindsey and I drove 10 hours to North Carolina to celebrate our friend Tristan's End of Chemo Party.  I took a picture of Lindsey with Tristan. I will try to post it as well.  May has been fun so far.  We went to Dreamnight at the Zoo for the Hematology Oncology Kids and Families.  Lindsey really enjoyed the Owls. She thought it was neat how they turned their head around.  On Friday May 15th is the Radio-thon for Childrens Hospital on our local radio station Star 102.1.  Be listening around 3pm and you may get to hear a cute little voice singing You are my Sunshine.  It is hard to believe at the end of this month we will be celebrating Lindsey's 4th Birthday.  She has come so far!  I can't believe my baby girl is 4. She wants to have a princess party.  She will show you the scar on her belly and tell you that is where the Doctor took out her cancer and made her a princess!  She is such a sweetie! Thanks for checking in on us!

As a side note. I have just started selling Stampin' Up!  If you are local and would like to attend one of my classes or attend a workshop please send me an email.  If you would like to place an order and learn about this month's special please contact me.  My website is www.kristenlong.stampinup.net. Thank you!

Lindsey the TV Star!
I will post more later but if you are local you can see Lindsey on the news tonight!  There will be a little blurb at 5pm on ABC Channel 6 (WATE) then the full story at 10pm on Fox Channel 43!  Be sure to let me know if you see it!  Lindsey will be signing autographs!  I will write more later!

Ok I am back!  I hope some of you got to see Lindsey on TV. She was very excited to see herself on there!  Good thing I taped it because she wanted to watch it over and over again!  Here is the link to the story they wrote on her at wate.com http://www.wate.com/global/story.asp?s=9842428  Be sure to sign in and leave a message on the news website, it only takes a second!  You can read the story they wrote, and also watch a short clip that was on the 5pm news.  I also posted a video on youtube.  I don't really have any technology that I can use to get it from the TV to the computer so the video is not that good, as I just used my regular camera, but you can still hear it and get most of what is going on!  I hope you enjoy the video, be sure to drop us a line and let us know what you think!  Here is the link to the 5pm video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omi4Hpo2rnY and here is the link to the 10 o'clock one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M2BJK1xtQ0

As you see in the video we spent the morning handing out Valentines at the hospital!  Lindsey's little buddy Evan joined us and was a big helper!  He helped us carry in some of the gifts that we brought to the hospital.  (A big thanks to Evan and his mom for helping us today!)  The hospital was very excited about the 11 boxes of stickers that we brought in today (or at least they put on a good show!)  Lindsey also gave her doctor an envelope full of stickers that she had picked out especially "for the doctor that made me all better" as she would say.  She collected 137 packages of stickers and marked each one on a map.  She received stickers from all 50 states, the Virgin Islands, Canada and Australia.  A huge thank you to everyone that sent stickers in honor of Lindsey!  Those stickers have been delivered and will be well taken care of! I am sure they will give quite a few kids something to smile about!!  Thanks again everyone!!!  Also a big thank you to WATE for coming out to do the story on Lindsey!  I think that it was awesome!

Tomorrow will be Lindsey's 2nd Anniversary!  We will be going to Chuck E Cheese's again for lunch!  She is very excited about ther "Anniversary Birthday" as she likes to call it!  We will also be serving dinner tomorrow night in honor of Lindsey at the local Ronald McDonald House.  It will be a very busy day, full of celebration!  Thank you for checking in on little Miss Lindsey!

AFP results and general update!
Well it has been awhile.  I have been meaning to sit down and right an update, but time just got away from me.  So here is the last 2 months in a nutshell.  They have been wonderful to say the least.  We went to Alabama for Thanksgiving and had the best time.  We invaded my sisters house, there were a total of 16 of us at her house. My sister n law did all the cooking and the food was awesome!  It was great visiting with all our family.
December 7th Lindsey, Brodey, Riley and I headed down to Atlanta for the Lighthouse Christmas Party.  It felt like a big family reunion.  It was great to see so many of our friends again! The Lighthouse Family Retreat has become very near and dear to us!  They are awesome! December 13th we went to the Christmas Celebration for Children's Hospital.  It was at the movie theater and we got to see Madagascar 2.  It was a good movie.  The kids also got a bag of gifts and got to see Santa.
Then in mid December we had a visit from my Dad, Mike, from California. It was the best!  He was only here for a couple days and we made the best of it. We wish he could have stayed longer.  He helped my sister and her family drive out from California and I will have to say that was my best Christmas Present this year!  My sister, my brother n law, my niece and my nephew will now call Tennessee home!  We took Grandpa Mike to see some of the great East Tennessee attractions!!  We saw the dancing Christmas Lights at Shadracks, we went to the Bass Pro Shop, and we went walking around in Gattlinburg and Pigeon Forge in 19 degree weather!  It was wonderful!  We were sad to see him head back home.  His next visit needs to be at least a couple weeks so we can hit ALL the stores!
Christmas this year was the best!  It was the first time in more years than I can count that all my siblings and I have been together.  We celebrate Christmas at Mom's house.  She made all the wonderful food and it was fantastic.  We had aebelskievers for breakfast and an awesome Turkey and Ham with all the fixings for dinner.  There were 22 of us there, and it was a housefull.  We had so much fun from Air Hockey tournaments to Guitar Hero Tournaments.  (I have to say that I won the Guitar Hero Tournament!!).  It was great just being able to spend some time together as a family.  We all stayed a couple nights at mom's house to have even more time together.  Then on December 29th most of us headed to Dollywood to enjoy the rides and shows one last time for 2008.  It was a little cold, but we made it through the day.
On New Years we all got together at my house.  It was the same group from Christmas, the only one missing was my brother.  We added a couple others so I think the total count for New Years was 25 people.  Most of them spent the night.  We had a great time being together with our family and friends to welcome in the New Year.  I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
January 8th brought us to Lindsey's 4 month check up. We went in for a chest x-ray, an ultra sound and an AFP check.  Lindsey did great as usual.  She got so many stickers for being good through the visit.  She decided to decorate mommy with all her stickers.  I wore them proud for the rest of the day (which I got quite a few weird looks for at the mall later that day).  We then had to wait for test results till Monday.  I made sure our next appointment falls earlier in the week so we don't have to wait so long for results.  It was ok.  We had a birthday celebration for Brodey on Sunday the 11tt, he will turn 13 this Tuesday.  Lindsey had so much fun singing Happy Birthday.
So that catches us up to today, January 12th, 2009.  I know what today has in store for me, well no not really but I know what it could hold.  Lindsey wakes me up as she does every morning, "Wake up ma'ma, its morning!" Then I get a big hug and a kiss.  We lay in bed a little while longer to snuggle and watch a show on TV.  Then we get up and are ready to face the day.  I know that downstairs there is a blinking light on my answering maching.  I know that there are test results on that machine.  We have waited for days for the results and now they are finally here.  Do I really want to know what they are?  A part of me wants to run down and push the button and hear the results, the other part of me just wants to enjoy the day a little bit longer before we hear them.  So I decide to change the laundry and read Lindsey a book.  She then reads me a book and we laugh because she had a hard time saying "velvety".  Then finally we go downstairs to get some breakfast.  I glance over and sure enough there is a blinking light on the answering machine.  Once I push that button, there is no turning back.  The results can take us down one road that means we have to gear up to fight another battle, or the other road which will take us to another get out of jail free card for 4 more months.  So finally I go and push the button, I hear, "Hi, it's Dr Hamilton and we have Lindsey's results."  Then he proceeds to tell me that everything looks great and there are no worries!!!  Thank you GOD!!!  Oh I forgot to mention that after we left the hospital on Thursday, after her tests, as we were driving off the car to my left side passes by and can you guess what the picture was on the back window of that car. If you have been following Lindsey's story long enough you will know that it was none other than Our Lady of Guadalupe!  She once again was there for Lindsey, telling us that everything was going to be just fine!! Thank you so much our Blessed Mother!!!   As you can see our New Year is starting out just perfect! Thank you God!!
We are getting ready to celebrate Lindsey's 2nd year anniversary, Feb 14th.  We will go to the hospital and hand out valentines to all the children on the 13th since the 14th is a Saturday.  We also want to make a donation to the Oncology Deptarment in Lindsey's honor.  So we asked what they could use.  She said they were doing pretty good so I asked if they could use any little things like crayons or stickers or paper or makers.  Miss Anna said they have enough crayons but can always use stickers.  So we are on a mission to collect a box full of stickers in honor of Little Miss Lindsey.  Thanks to all my friends on the cricut message board, we almost have that box half full and still have more coming.  If you would like to donate to our collection, please email me at mail@lindseyann.net.  I will be sure to post pictures when we have them all collected.  We want to take these stickers with us on February 13th so please have them to us by then.  I think this is a great way to honor Lindsey. Now I am off to update the Even More Photos section.  Be sure to check it out.  Also check out the About Us tab for our family Christmas Picture!  Thanks again for checking in on Lindsey and the family!  God Bless you all!
